Merry Christmas from a couple of legends

A Christmas card from Ray and Charles Eames
Last night for their season finale, the PBS series American Masters aired a new documentary about the work and lives of Charles and Ray Eames, called "America's most important and influential American designers" in the PBS description--a claim I'd be hard pressed to argue with. Watch the trailer for the film here:

Bob Wirth
There's a brief shot of the two working around what looks for all the world like Ward Kimball's train room, though I'm pretty sure that's just a coincidence of layout and fun functional organization. Who knows. Most famous for their eponymous chair, the couple did much more than that, and if you don't already know them, you should. Everything about this pair seems stimulating.

Also displayed are two other holiday cards that were sent to the couple, from the collection of the Library of Congress:
Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock

Great Deal: Chair Covers, Table Covers

I am so excited to share my experience with eFavorMart.com! My package came Monday and this is what I ordered:

2 banquet chair covers ($2.38 each). Available in 4 colors

Taffeta Flocking White/Black Chair Sash ($1.99 each). Available in 8 colors

Taffeta Flocking Table Runners ($4.29 each). Available in 8 colors

I read some reviews on this company that were hit or miss but, based on the prices I decided to take a chance. I was not disappointed. Come to find out the distribution center is located in Southern California. My order was placed Dec 9th and delivered on Dec 13th! The quality of the the items I ordered didn't disappoint either. I was a little worried, based on the price, (you know the saying "you get what you pay for") but, I was completely thrilled and I would recommend ordering from them for any event.

A Merry Christmas from Disney's in 1955

This is a repost of one of my earliest entries, shortly after I began this blog in 2005. I think it suits the season and so merits an encore.

This is the front of the Disney Studio's 1955 Christmas card.  It's quite a beautifully done thing; printed on a soft, high-quality paper, it's a large card that opens into a double-spread of the brand-spanking-new Disneyland, with a calendar running down the sides.  I was unable to scan the entire thing, as it's just a bit longer than my scanner is.  Great artwork--I don't know whose...anyone have any ideas?

May your fifty-years-on New Year be merry and bright!

Bravery

Although it won't be on shelves for another seven months, last week Amazon put up the cover art and a short description for "The Art Of Brave", which I had the pleasure of authoring. It's going to be quite a beautiful book, one that I only wish could have been twice as long as its 160 pages. I'll write more about it here as publication time draws nearer.

In other Brave-related news, Brenda Chapman began using Twitter and has started a Tumblr blog. There's not much there yet as she only just began it, but it does link to a new, very good two-part interview with Brenda on the site Pixar Portal. Her thoughts on art, work and storytelling are a must-read.

Here's some help for writing Thank You notes!

One of the things you will do through out the process of getting engaged to getting married is write a whole bunch of "thank you" notes! A couple will have hosted for them: an engagement party, a bridal shower and then the wedding it self that people will purchase gifts for them and it is customary for a note of thanks be written for each of these gifts.

Thank you notes should be personal and always hand written. So what do you do if you are not a good writer or what about if you are just stumped for what to say after writing your 100th note? One thing you can do is visit Emily Easton's Thank You Notes website. From crockpots to cash, from sheets to salad bowls, Emily has done the work for you. You will find over 70 items she has put words of thanks to and it'all free for brides and grooms to use. Emily doesn't sell stationery and she doesn't actually write the notes for you - she just provides brides words to copy or ideas you can use! Check it out if you are needing some helpful tips on what to say or how to say it!

Wedding Shoes - Add a little color at bargain prices!

The idea of adding a little color under the dress has been widely popular. I see a lot of "real wedding" pics with brides showing off their shoes. Having a color shoe that matches your wedding theme makes options endless - and I love shoes! I fell in love with this purple silk shoe from Nine West and what a bargain it is from Amazon's shoe site 6pm.com:

This particular shoe is also offered in Black Silk and Taupe Silk. Add in free shipping and you just scored! 6pm.com offers name brand shoes and sometimes you can score these shoes at deeply discounted prices! It's a great site to shop at and they have (literally) 1000's of shoes! I was browsing the Clearance section and look at these deals:

It is also available in French Blue, the color shown above which is a pretty popular wedding shoe color!
One of my favorite bridal shoe designers is Pour La Victoire. Gorgeous shoes but, they are not cheap! So, finding them at bargain prices is a big deal! Many white and ivory satin designs feature blue leather soles that read "I DO" in sparkling rhinestones. But, their colored shoes are also trendy, well made shoes you would pick as your go-to favorite! This morning I saw a "Real Wedding" on La Magnifique and the bride was wearing the "Divia" by Pour La Victorie in Royal Blue Satin! I found the same pair, in a pretty Silver satin:

I do love the Royal Blue Satin color though so I had to sneak in these! The "Baylie" is available in 5 colors and lots of sizes are available!

An impressive Indonesian male model

Priyagung Luhur Wicaksono defined himself as an experienced model from Jakarta, Indonesia. He was one of L-Men 2011 contestant, didn't win at high position but he is truly the man that I was most impressed. 175cm height, 70kg comes with well-proportioned body, he should be an Indonesian guy who owns the most beautiful body I've ever seen. His advantage, as you see here and after, is photogenic face, that make every picture of him become beautiful with gorgeous handsome face. Chest, shoulder, 6 pack and his sexy legs, each of them I could give for 9/10 at least in every photos he posed for.
